Just visiting? How to explore Wanaka like a Local.

Want to help us become Aotearoa’s first single-use cup free town?

If you’re planning a trip to Wānaka, you’re probably already familiar with the lakes, peaks, and fresh mountain air we’re known for. This environment drives us, connects us, and encourages us to explore more. But we also have a responsibility to protect it, and we invite you to do the same.

Sucfree Wanaka How To Explore Wanaka Like A Local

SUCfree Wānaka

If you want to explore Wānaka like a local, then you have to act like one.

One of the town’s biggest sustainability movements is SUCfree Wānaka. With 13 cafes no longer serving single-use cups and many more offering cup lending schemes, finding an alternative has never been easier.

To help us on our mission to become the first SUCfree town in Aotearoa, we’re calling on ALL visitors to get behind the initiative.

Here's what you can do:

  • Sit in and enjoy your coffee — it tastes better when you  take a moment to relax.
  • Remember to pack and bring your own reusable cup and water bottle.
  • Borrow a reusable cup from one of our many cafes.

Whether you’re here for a day, a week, or a month, these small actions reduce the impact of your
stay.
